We took the time to go through all the basement floor alternatives with each of our customers, including snap-together plastic tiles and hardwood. However, with those options, we clarified that nothing can stop water from entering or accumulating beneath the floor. Water can seep into the carpet or through the cracks in the hardwood and plastic tiles if it enters the basement during a downpour due to a malfunctioning sump pump or child spillage. The end result is a mess that's difficult to clean up and the perfect place for mold and mildew to flourish.
